As the sun shone down on the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate this week, the Bennamann team gathered in the Innovation Zone, to receive the Champion White Rose Innovation Trophy – the award celebrating entrepreneurs who are redefining the future of farming.

Winning the show’s Engineering Innovation Award was a tremendous achievement in itself. But taking home the overall Champion trophy too, marked an extraordinary moment, recognising Bennamann’s remarkable progress in powering energy independence across the UK.

Bennamann Chief Executive Mike Simpson said: “This is a win for renewable energy in the UK, and it really supports the UK strategy towards energy security.”

The GYS Innovation Awards are organised by the Farmer Scientist Network, supported by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, to highlight new ways in which science and technology can deliver solutions and drive innovation in agriculture.

Chair of the Farmer Scientist Network, Dr David George, said: “Adopting new technology is essential to help farm businesses operate as efficiently, resiliently and productively as possible.”

The availability of BioCNG is enabling the replacement of dieselpowered vehicles with methanepowered trucks and tractors, delivering a greener, cleaner, homegrown solution to fuel price volatility and supply instability. The Bennamann ecosystem also offers a new revenue stream for AD plant operators, who can use or sell the fuel they produce – driving energy independence and supporting a circular economy.

We are grateful to everyone who has supported us – our partners, customers, collaborators and the wider farming community. This is a win for us all.
